A special weekend update to bring you our first interview (we’ll be back to a regular snapshot schedule starting Monday)! We kept this one short and simple because, quite frankly, we’ve never walked up to a random stranger and asked them if they’d submit to a photo/interview before. Still, this was the original idea that inspired Faces of the City, and we’re very glad to have made it happen. More will be forthcoming!

FotC: Excuse me … hi, I run a website called Faces of the City, and I was wondering if I could take your picture and ask you a couple of questions for it.

Nicholas: Sure, why not?

FotC: Great, thanks! Actually, we just opened the site a few weeks ago and you’re the first person we’ve ever asked for this. I wasn’t sure it was going to work.

Nicholas: [laughs]

FotC: So, what’s your name?

Nicholas: My name’s Nicholas [redacted].

FotC: Nice to meet you. Where are you from? Do you live in the city, or are you just visiting?

Nicholas: Just visiting. I’m from Newark, Delaware actually.

FotC: Cool. So what brings you to the city? School? Tourism?

Nicholas: We’ve got a friend up here and we’re visiting her. We just wanted to hang out in New York and we … he actually [points to friend] thought we should go check out some museums.

FotC: Cool.

Nicholas: Other than that, we’ve just been hanging out. Great weekend for it.

FotC: Definitely. Well, thanks a lot man.

Nicholas: No problem!
